How AZHA Works

MISSION STATEMENT: To increase home ownership opportunities in Arizona by focusing on customer satisfaction, zoning equality, and image improvement.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS: AZHA is governed by a Board of Directors who elect Officers to serve on the Executive Committee from among existing Board members. The Board sets policy guidelines and manages the overall business of AZHA. The President of the Board appoints individuals to serve as Chairmen of state committees to advise the Board on issues of policy and to assist as needed in the implementation of association programs. The following is a list of some 2006-2007 committees: Arizona Image Committee, Legislative and Regulatory committee, Statewide Zoning Committee, Home Show Committee.

The Board of Directors meets a minimum of four times a year. Board Elections: Board members are elected in two ways: Councils and Chapters. The Board is composed of representatives from the following Councils: Manufacturers, Retailers, Developers, Contractors/Installers, Lenders, and Suppliers of Products, Services and Sites. Board members are also elected from Chapters. Currently there are six Chapters. They are located in the following areas: Metropolitan Phoenix Chapter covers Maricopa and Pinal Counties; Metropolitan Tucson Chapter covers Pima, and Santa Cruz Counties; the Southwest Chapter in Yuma covers Yuma County; the Southeast Chapter in Sierra Vista covers Cochise, Graham and Greenlee counties; the Northwest Chapter covers Mohave County; and the North Central Chapter covers Apache, Coconino, Navajo, Gila and Yavapai counties.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE: The Executive Committee oversees the management of the association. The Executive Director and staff of AZHA are responsible for the daily operations of the association office. The five member Executive Committee consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Immediate Past President. The Executive Committee reports to the Board of Directors.

CHAPTERS: The purpose of a chapter is to help the association accomplish its mission as stated above. Chapters hold local meetings to keep members informed of local issues, to help AZHA increase and strengthen its membership, to involve chapter members in helping to solve local problems, and to help increase industry sales, improve our industry's image and obtain zoning equality through programs like the annual home shows. Chapters can make their concerns and recommendations known through their Council Representative or through their Chapter Representative to the Board of Directors.

INDUSTRY AND MEMBERSHIP SERVICES: AZHA invests its budget to not only help the industry accomplish its mission, but to also provide useful services to its members. The association supports an extensive program designed to increase industry sales and improve our industry's image (the program is referred to as Arizona Image and includes press releases, consumer advertising on television, radio and print, as well as support of the Annual Home Shows). AZHA has a legislative and regulatory program designed to protect and promote the interests of the industry. There is a program to help members deal with zoning issues at the local level (county, town, city). In addition, the association conducts periodic meetings at the chapter level, holds an annual convention and golf tournament, publishes a weekly newsletter and annual directory, and provides timely information to help members meet their needs. It also conducts educational programs designed to address members' needs and industry issues.

OFFICE AND STAFF: The AZHA Office is located at 4525 S. Lakeshore Drive, Suite 105, Tempe, Arizona 85282-7047. Executive Director, William G. Trottier, CAE, is responsible for management of the office and staff.
